What is Meevee?

How is Meevee different to YouTube Kids or Netflix?

Most kids' platforms are built to maximise watch time. The business model depends on it. Autoplay rolls, the algorithm chooses what's next, and the session never really shapes itself.

Meevee runs the other way. We license much-loved children's programming, the classics you grew up with alongside newer favourites, and arrange it into finite sessions. When the session ends, Mookee guides the child off-screen and the app closes until a grown-up reopens it. The ending isn't a setting to switch on. It's the format.

Isn't this still screen time?

Yes. Children watch screens. That's the reality of modern family life. Meevee is for the moments when you need a breather, when dinner has to happen, or when the rain has been falling for hours. We're the option that works for those moments without the guilt hangover afterwards.

We're not anti-screen. We think the way most kids' content is currently designed is the problem. Meevee is what screen time looks like when someone builds it to end.

Who is Meevee for?

The app is built for children aged 2 to 6. Mookee, the session flow, and the visual world are all designed for a toddler. The way we write about it is for you. Parents and carers who use screens and want that time to be better, not necessarily shorter. We're not here to convince you screens are bad. We're here to be the thing you reach for when you've decided to put one on.

Much-loved children's shows, classics and newer favourites alike, the kind with proper stories, slower pacing, and endings that resolve. You'll find familiar names like Thomas & Friends, Pingu, and Bob the Builder, plus more we're always adding. Our collection isn't huge by design, we'd rather you reach for something we've chosen carefully than scroll a wall of options, and it keeps growing, including new work commissioned through our Creative Fund.

Is there more than shows on Meevee?

Shows are the heart of it, but a session isn't only watching. Mookee opens and closes each one, and the wind-down brings a small off-screen moment, a song, a stretch, a little activity, to land the ending. We're expanding what a session can hold over time.

How is content chosen?

We watch everything. Then we choose based on our content standards. The main things we look for are pacing that doesn't jangle small nervous systems, characters who behave the way you'd want your child to, and stories that close. We avoid shows built around shouting, fast cuts, or cliffhangers that pull kids forward into the next episode. Every show is age-rated and reviewed against what early childhood development research tells us works for two to six year olds. Then we license it.

Is Meevee safe and ad-free?

Yes, both. Ad-free because the experience wouldn't work with ads in it. Safe because every show is licensed, human-curated, and age-rated. Safety is the baseline we built on, not the thing we sell. The thing we sell is screen time that ends well, and the habits that ending builds.

Does Meevee have autoplay?

Not in the way you're probably thinking. Episodes play in sequence within the session you've set up, so your child watches a coherent stretch of content rather than a single show with a "next" button. When the session reaches its end, the playing stops, Mookee comes in and guides kids off the screen. He stays asleep until you decide to set the next session. There's no opaque algorithm promoting the next video.

How does screen time end on Meevee?

Every session has a beginning, a middle, and an end, like a children's book. When the end arrives, Mookee, our claymation host, comes on screen, says a warm goodbye, and guides your child into something off-screen. A small activity, a song, a stretch. Then the app closes. To watch again, a grown-up has to open it back up. This is structural. It happens every time.

Can I set a time limit for my child?

Yes, when you set up the session. Mookee asks how long you have and shapes the session around that. Sessions are short by design, somewhere between twenty and forty minutes depending on what you choose and what your child is into. We're not a parental controls product. The session ends because the story ends, not because a timer ran out.

Can my child access the internet or other apps through Meevee?

No. Once a session is running, your child can't browse out, follow a link, or land in a comments section. There's no in-app store and no chat. The only exit is when the session ends, and Mookee handles that part.

What are the screen guidelines for preschoolers?

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization broadly recommend up to one hour of high-quality content a day for children aged two to five. The 2026 AAP update softens the strict time line and puts more weight on quality, context, and what happens around the screen. We treat these as guidance, not gospel. A long session on a sick day is fine. A short, attentive session can be more nourishing than an hour of background noise. Meevee is built to make whatever screen time you choose count, and to end without conflict.

How does Meevee use my data?

We personalise content based on your child's age and pace, without behavioural profiling or data extraction. We only collect what's needed to make the app work and never sell your data. Meevee is on iOS (iPhone and iPad) as of April 2026. Android and TV app is in development.

Meevee starts with a 14-day free trial. After that, memberships start at €8 ($9) a month, or €77 ($84) a year if you'd rather pay once and forget about it. Every membership contributes to our Creative Fund, which commissions new work from independent animators. Cancel anytime.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel any time, from your iPhone Settings under Subscriptions or in the app under account settings. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of your billing period. No phone calls, no retention loops.

If kids spend less time on Meevee, how does that work as a business?

This is the question we get most. The honest answer is that our business runs on parent trust, not child watch time. Families pay a membership because the product does what they need it to do. If sessions are short and well-designed, parents come back. If they're long and exhausting, they don't.

It's closer to an art gallery than Netflix. Members pay because they believe in what's inside, not by how long they stay.

We launched on iOS in April 2026. We're a small Amsterdam-based team, building this carefully and in partnership with researchers at Tilburg University who are studying how narrative endings affect children's transitions off-screen.
